Books by three Salt Spring authors are on the top 10 bestselling list among B.C. books for adults this week.

As of March 26, a North Shore News list compiled with data from TBM BookManager Ltd. had Trauma Farm: A Rebel History of Rural Life by Brian Brett in number two spot; The Shores We Call Home: The Art of Carol Evans in fifth spot; and Sweetness from Ashes by Marlyn Horsdal in sixth spot.

The previous week saw similar results from an Association of Book Publishers of B.C. list.

Brett's book, published by Greystone Books, won the Writers' Trust award for non-fiction last fall, was longlisted for the B.C. Award for Canadian Non-Fiction, named an Amazon Top 100 Book for 2009 and was recently nominated for three prizes in the B.C. Book Awards, with the winners announced April 17.

Evans' book, a collection of images from three decades as an artist, with a narrative from the artist and a foreword by Arthur Black, is newly released by Harbour Publishing.

A public reception with Evans was held at Gallery 8 at Grace Point Square on March 26.

Horsdal's first novel about family in its various guises, and set in both West Africa and Ontario, is also fresh off the press and receiving great reviews.

The local release of Sweetness from Ashes, published by Brindle and Glass, was celebrated at an ArtSpring event on March 21, along with readings from authors Ann Erickson (Falling from Grace) and Margaret Thompson (Adrift on the Ark).

All three books are available through local bookstores.
